Later on, Zerus learned that the group led by the boy was composed mainly of people from the Celtia Kingdom.
Their empire had planned to invade Celtia eventually, but it being a nation so faraway from the present empire, their fight would have to be for much later. So, how was it that that nation launched its own invasion against the empire at this time?
Regardless, Zerus was now thrown in a jail in a city ruled over by the boy.
He had heard the boy say that this was a location in a remote region within the Celtia Kingdom, but their travel here happened in an instant.
“He was able to bring me outside of the Mecha-Dragon too. There can be no doubt, this is all the work of a Gift…that would explain how they appeared within the palace all of a sudden…I didn’t think there was even such a Gift…”
Upon coming to that realization, Zerus shuddered. At the same time, he was still in disbelief in the situation he found himself in.
“But where are the effects of my [Great Fortune] Gift!? No matter how I look at it, being thrown in a cell is anything but great fortune! In fact, this is the worst-case scenario…!”
At that moment, someone in a maid outfit approached.
“Oh, but you are fortunate. Extremely so.”
“What do you mean?”
The maid had a gentle smile that made her look like a holy mother, but the smile for some reason only sent a chill down Zerus’s spine.
Without a trace of cloudiness in her eyes, she explained.
“After all, now you too can become a devout believer of Luke-sama.”
“Hii, hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!?”
Without realizing it, Zerus let out a shriek.
◇ ◇ ◇
With us arresting both the emperor and the minister, the empire surrendered without much trouble. Our multinational force had taken control of the palace for the meantime.
The empire then declared surrender to the nations it was currently invading and promptly began recalling their troops.
Afterwards, with delegates from each of the concerned nations serving as witnesses, Zuldan the 10-year old emperor abdicated the throne and Azeldan Kruzel ascended to take his place.
Back in the day, because he was Zuldan’s half-brother, the aforementioned minister had seen it fit to banish Azeldan from the imperial capital. And even after his banishment, the minister apparently still sent assassins his way. Despite that, he had survived each attempt and even reached his present age of 25. But perhaps thanks to that kind of life, he was now a man with the mettle and courage befitting the new sovereign of the empire.
After ascending into power, he quickly declared the liberation of the nations that had become the vassals of the empire. Furthermore, he vowed to pay reparations to each of the relevant nations for the damages done by the imperial army.
At first, those nations were adamant in wanting to exact revenge and attack the empire for themselves. However, thanks to the emperor’s sincere response, the nations gradually softened their stance until eventually, they reached a peaceful settlement with the empire.
As for most of us from the wasteland village, we returned to the village quickly after the empire declared surrender. However, Dant-san stayed behind to work behind the scenes to make sure that the post-war cleanup proceeded smoothly. In fact, the details I mentioned were just a summary of his report.
“Sorry for dumping all the work to you, Dant-san.”
“It’s nothing. I had quite the pleasant time, in fact, thanks to you. Or more precisely, the support I received from the Celtia Kingdom…”
The king had always been dumping all sort of work on me, but perhaps thinking that he could raise the Celtia Kingdom’s reputation by helping out this time, he gave Dant-san all the support the latter needed.
Seriously, what a shrewd king…
“Of course, the one whose reputation increased the most this time was you, Luke-sama.”
“Huh?”
“Indeed. If not for you, no one would have been able to stop the empire, after all. People of the nations oppressed by the empire, specially those who had become their vassals, look up to you, revere you as their hero. If the reconstruction efforts go well, we can expect droves of people who want to visit the village. *(as part of their pilgramage, of course. But that also means we need to increase our production of [The Legend of Luke-sama]…)* ”
“Ehh…”
“Ahh, one more thing. It’s a trivial thing, really, but…”
Dant-san clapped like he just remembered something.
“It’s about the other nations’ registration as your villagers. The permission they gave was temporary in nature…but each of those nations were strongly requesting that they remain as such indefinitely.”
How is that a trivial thing!?

That minister is still fortunate to not be executed. His gift still worked.

Thank you!
So now we have a ‘village’ that spans most of a continent and includes multiple nations. I’m pretty sure that’s supposed to be called an empire, but meh.

They have the land and territory of an empire but the actual thing itself is just a city. But, if Luke wanted to(he would never), he could take over the entire continent.

I think the international transport system kinda rules out it being just a city too. The other nations have no way to maintain it without him. Add in the religion and they now have a national dependence.
