After overpowering the 2 imperial soldiers, we followed after the emperor and the minister.
“If I’m not mistaken, it’s this way”
The interior of the palace had a complex structure, so it was ordinarily hard to search for someone you had lost sight of even for just a moment. But since I followed after the 2 with Village View, we didn’t lose them.
One thing to note was that there were no other imperial soldier in here.
“This is just a guess, but I think entry to this this section is forbidden for most people.”
Queen Maribel commented so.
Just as she alluded to, this place might be the inner palace. I had caught sight of young and beautiful women here and there.
I don’t think the emperor is at that kind of age yet, is he…?
“Huh? That’s weird…I’m pretty sure they escaped this way…”
I said so and stopped moving. In front of me at the moment was a dead end.
“What, there’s no way forward.”
“That’s not so, sister. This is evidently a strange place to find a dead end. Something’s going on here.”
Selius-kun pointed that out.
“Can it be a hidden door or something…?”
“I don’t think it’ll be easy for us to find out the intended way to open it. If that’s the case, our best option is to smash it all down♡ …hyaaaaaaaaaaaa!!”
Gori-chan let loose a glorious roundhouse kick.
*DOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!*
The wall burst and there was now a giant hole in it.
“What power…”
“This wall used incredibly tough material…yet, in just one attack…”
“In more ways more than one, just what is that person…”
The elites from the different countries had twitching faces. It didn’t surprise me to see that Gori-chan’s ridiculousness transcended national borders.
“Ufu, look ♡”
With delight, Gori-chan pointed at a set of stairs that went downward. That proved something really was in the other side of the wall. We carefully took those stairs. At the end of those stairs, we then found a long corridor which we also proceeded along.
“Is this…a workshop?”
“Look over there, it’s a Giant Soldier!”
“Is it under maintenance?”
It seemed like this section was a hangar for Giant Soldiers. This hangar was likely built under the palace, but as to be expected of an area where gigantic weapons and such were being stored, it was vast and had tall ceilings to match.
“Look! There!”
The one to shout that was Goate-san. He was pointing at the 2 people we were after, currently in the far side of the hangar.
“Haa, haa…h-hey, Zerus! Don’t leave me behind…!”
The emperor desperately appealed, but the minister showed no sign of turning back. Far from it, the minister had already passed a door and disappeared from sight.
“Hiiii! Don’t come near me! That’s an imperial command, you hear me!?”
The emperor was kicking up quite a fuss as the elite soldiers from different nations approached.
“A child emperor who hasn’t learned how to tell right from wrong…in all likelihood, he started all those wars after being instigated by the adults around him.”
“Child or no though, he is this nation’s emperor. He can’t escape the responsibility that came along with it.”
“Yeah. We’ll discuss with the other nations the measures we’ll take, including what we’ll ultimately do with him, but for now, let’s just get him into our custody. Having him as hostage give us an option to end this war quickly, after all.”
And so, we moved to take him into our custody.
*DOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!*
But then, almost as the same time as a loud boom erupted, something burst out of a wall. It was the same wall that had the door the minister passed through of.
“…what happened!?”
“What, what is that…? Is that a dragon…?”
“No way…”
After numerous debris flew our way, what stood there was…a mechanical dragon.
