On that day, there was a great commotion in the Cranzel Empire.
Which was only natural when a gigantic fort was flying in the sky as it made its way to the imperial capital. That was especially so for the citizens of the said capital. Of course, that also applied to the emperor himself who was in the palace in the capital.
“M-Minister! What is that thing!?”
“It would seem to be…a fort…”
“I can tell that much! What I’m asking is why a fort is flying in the sky!”
Emperor Suldan demanded so but Minister Zerus was unable to provide an answer.
*DoDoDoDoDoDoDoDonn!!*
Thunderous sounds erupted.
The artilleries in the imperial capital’s walls had fired at the approaching fort. The fort was large, so all projectiles had no problem making a direct hit on it.
“What, that didn’t do anything at all!?”
Aside from mild scorch marks, the fort remained mostly unaffected. It became immediately clear that artillery fire wouldn’t work.
The flying fort was about 1/5 the size of the imperial capital, which was the empire’s largest city by the way. As such, it was no wonder the city below became as dark as it got during night.
“Wait a minute! That thing’s headed this way, isn’t it!?”
The flying fort didn’t stop at the city and instead was in a straight path toward the palace.
The throne room, where emperor and the rest were in, was a chamber that was fairly high up so as to make a display of his authority. Yet, for all its height, it was still not high enough to look down at the approaching fort.
“U-unacceptable! I should be the one looking down at them! Not the other way around!”
Setting aside the emperor and his out-of-place anger for now, the fort had finally stopped above the palace.
“…it stopped?”
All the emperor and the others saw from their vantage point was the stone-paved rear side of the fort.
But then, all of a sudden, a hole opened up in the fort’s rear side. And from that hole, something that looked like a road extended toward the palace. It wasn’t just one either, there were at least 4.
“Hey, something’s coming out of that hole! Are those, are those soldiers!?”
The emperor yelled so.
Traveling along that mysterious road from within the fort were groups of what seemed to be armed individuals.
“That equipment…are they from the Gobaldo Republic…? But the ones on that other road are wearing the Loda Kingdom’s…? And there, are those the Ateri Kingdom’s forces…!? What is going on here!?”
Minister Zerus was shocked when he realized that armies from various nations were approaching the imperial palace through each of the roads. Wanting to believe what he was seeing was only a dream, he pinched his cheek. There was undeniable pain, however.
“It’s not a dream…which means that fort is real and those forces are attacking the palace…? Tch, drive them away at once! This is the Holy Emperor’s palace! It is unacceptable to let these foreign forces to take so much as a step inside!”
The Minister quickly issued out orders to the imperial guards. Of course, the imperial guards in question had taken action long before those orders…
◇ ◇ ◇
“I can’t believe he can do even this…”
“Look at those imperial soldiers’ dumb faces…they must have been shocked to their very core…”
“I mean, who wouldn’t be when they see a large fort flying in the sky and heading straight for them…?”
“And be able to get to the heart of their nation, no less…I’m just glad he’s not our enemy…”
While conversing like that, the high-spirited soldiers from the other countries were heading toward the imperial palace. Because I made a total of 8 Bridges to connect the Fort with the imperial palace, our side divided into 8 as well.
We had asked that each of the concerned nations to lend us a few of their troops for our march into the empire. When I told the nations that we were going to the empire by riding a fort, they didn’t seem to understand. When I showed it flying to the sky though, they were…well, shocked at first but what mattered was that they were happy to cooperate.
In time, we had gathered a total of about 5,000 troops. With the addition of about 500 troops from our village, I was confident that this force descending upon the palace all at once couldn’t be stopped…by human soldiers, that is.
“Everyone, please be careful. It looks like there are a few Giant Soldiers in the palace.”
