“Kukuku, but it’s all the same in the end! The only thing that’s changed is the order in which I kill you and Suldan! And don’t bother trying to escape. This hangar is sealed tight! Not even a rat can get in here!”
Despite Gori-chan and her student Ganzasu-san rescuing the emperor from the minister, the minister in question remained confident that he had the upper hand. His laugh that was so sure of his victory reached us through the speakers.
“But you lot are fortunate! For you have been chosen to be the first foes to be defeated by the Mecha-dragon! Take pride and die!”
The mecha-dragon swung its tail without reserve.
Gori-chan who was near guarded with both her arms, but she was still blown so far back she crashed into a wall.
“Ahh, that was intense…”
“Master Gori-chan!?”
Ganzasu-san looked so worried about Gori-chan, but he didn’t slow down one bit in returning to our side with the emperor in his hands.
“Looks like close-quarters combat’s dangerous, doesn’t it? Then…!”
“Mhm, we should make use of long-range attacks.”
Selen launched an attack spell and Philia-san let loose an arrow not a moment later.
The other members of the squad also launched their own long-range attacks.
“Fuhahahaha! It’s futile, all futile!”
However, both Selen’s ice bullet and Philia-san’s arrow were repelled by the Mecha-dragon’s tough armor. That prompted another victorious laugh from the minister.
Even Gori-chan’s attack earlier which made the dragon open its mouth left nothing more than a slight dent. It seemed safe to assume that the Mecha-dragon had quite the considerable defensive power.
“I suppose it’s my turn now? Die, all of you die!”
An intense light then came from from the Mecha-dragon’s open mouth. It acted like it was charging up something. We were all apprehensive.
“What crazy magic power…”
“It, it’s coming!”
Not long after, the Mecha-dragon fired off a laser beam. Moreover, perhaps to deny us a chance to evade, the Mecha-dragon turned its head sideways and made a sweeping arc with the laser.
The beam of super compressed magic power gouged the walls and floors as it made its way toward us.
“Everyone! Get behind me!”
The one to shout that was Noel-kun. Just as everyone jumped behind him, the laser made contact with his raised shield.
“…!?”
Noel-kun was almost blasted away. Thankfully, Goate-san managed to support him and they withstood the attack, even if only barely.
“So much power…”
Noel-kun’s shield was a custom-made shield built with adamantite as its main material. In spite of that, after taking on that beam, a large portion of its central area was gouged out.
Much like the Giant Soldiers’s attacks, the Mecha-dragon’s beam likely required a large amount of magic power and firing several of it was unlikely. But looking at Noel-kun’s shield, I doubted he could take on even one more beam…
“Preposterous…you defended against that attack…?”
Meanwhile, the minister himself was also surprised of the outcome. He likely didn’t think we could survive that attack.
The strategy I used on the Giant Soldiers before—that is, making a large hole in the ground and making them fall down to the bottom—unfortunately couldn’t be used at the moment. This place was a man-made building, so making a moat like that was just not possible.
That said, we were not out of options. We had made several Giant Soldiers and we still had 3 in reserve.
Should I bring them all here to fight the Mecha-dragon? …no, wait. The Mecha-dragon’s large, so maybe its cockpit is also…
Thinking that, I used Village View and checked the interior of the Mecha-dragon.
“Found it!”
“? What is it, Luke? Actually, I’d rather you tell me of how we can defeat that guy. AH! That’s right, can’t you do what you did with that dragon zombie from before?”
“I suppose I could, but this time, I’m going for something simpler. Well then, see you later.”
After saying so to Selen, I used teleport. My surroundings changed and I was now before me was…
“But no matter, you can’t possibly defend against more. This time, I’ll end it for sure!”
“Hello”
“Huh? …huh!????!!? W-w-w-w-w-w-w-what are you doing here!?”
TL note: I don’t recall any dragon zombie. Maybe the Behemoth? The mammoth in the desert.
