From the other side of the destroyed wall, a gigantic creature emerged.
Actually, the term creature might not apply. It was over 20 meters long and had the appearance of a large lizard, so my initial thought was that it was a dragon. However, instead of scales, it was covered by metallic armor.
“What is that thing!?”
“A dragon? But it doesn’t look like it’s a living thing…”
My guess was that it was a weapon just like the Giant Soldiers.
A human voice then came from the mechanical dragon.
“Fuhahahahahaha! Intruders! Surprised, aren’t you!?”
From things that looked like speakers, I heard a voice that I had heard earlier: the minister’s.
It would seem that like the Giant Soldiers, this mechanical dragon could be piloted from within.
“Zerus!? Hey, what are you doing!? Hurry and save me! Wait, if you’re here to save me, that means you didn’t run away and left me! And that’s one cool weapon you have there! Let me ride it later!”
The emperor was angry one moment and happy the next. As though ignoring him though, the minister continued.
“This weapon is called a Mecha-dragon! It was also excavated from ancient ruins, but don’t mistake it to be on the same level as the mass-produced Giant Soldiers! And though we only found this one, it more than makes up for it with its power! It can crush humans like they are nothing more than ants! Fuhahahaha!”
With the ground trembling, the so-called Mecha-dragon began moving forward. Just when I thought it was going to step on and crush the emperor, it stopped.
“Ahh! That was close! You could have crushed me flat, you know!?”
“…”
“Say something for yourself, Zerus! Z-Zerus…?”
And then, the mechanical dragon stretched its neck and grabbed hold of the emperor with its jaw full of pointy things.
“!? What, what do you think you’re doing!?”
“Kukuku, still as stupid as ever. Still unaware that the most incompetent of all is himself.”
“What was that!? You dare call ME incompetent!? I’m the emperor! I’m the most remarkable person in this whole world!”
“That’s what I’ve been telling you, yes. But that is not at all the case. Do you want me to tell you the truth? You who could do nothing on your own were nothing more than a decoration on the throne! And the one who truly rules this world is me! You are just a tool for me to use!”
“…!”
It would seem the minister was staging a revolt here and now.
“Being on the receiving end of an invasion was completely unexpected, but on reflection, it’s the perfect opportunity! I can kill you here and pin the blame on them!”
The minister then made the mechanical dragon slowly but surely close its jaw, with the emperor still caught between.
“It hurts, it hurts! Stop it, Zerus! Stop this at once! F-fine, the throne is yours! Have it! Just spare meeee!”
The emperor had tears in his eyes as he pleaded so. But the minister seemed intent on crushing the former.
But if he kills the emperor that way, won’t the cause of death and even perpetrator be obvious…?
As I wondered about that, a giant of a person jumped from beside me and toward the dragon’s head.
“Close your mouth so that you don’t bite your tongue off, little boy!”
“!?”
“Heave-ho!!”
Gori-chan then delivered a powerful kick to the dragon’s jaw. Accompanied by a loud boom, the Mecha-dragon opened its mouth and let go of the emperor.
“Waaah!?”
Before the emperor could slam into the ground though, Ganzasu-san caught him in the air.
“That was close, real close!”
It was a great combined effort between master and student.
“!? Ridiculous!? No flesh and blood human should be able to withstand the Mecha-dragon…!”
“Hmp, someone who manipulates a young boy then tries to get rid of him and seize power for himself is such a sickeningly rotten adult, don’t you agree? But worry not, we’ll be sure to give such scoundrels the their just deserts ♡ ”
“Hiiii….”
